Same-Day Dentistry

A Broken Tooth Does Not Always Require Weeks of Appointments.

When a tooth and the clinical conditions are appropriate, Dr. Vasquez may be able to scan, design, create and deliver a custom restoration during the same visit—without a temporary crown or a second appointment.

Technology With a Purpose

Same-day dentistry is not valuable simply because it is fast. Its real value is an integrated workflow. The preparation, digital scan, design, manufacturing, finishing and delivery remain under the supervision of the clinical team. This can improve communication, reduce temporary restorations and make treatment more efficient.

The Same-Day Workflow

1. Examine and Plan

Dr. Vasquez evaluates the tooth, symptoms, remaining structure, gums, bite and nerve health. Same-day treatment begins with a diagnosis—not with the machine.

2. Capture a Digital Scan

A handheld intraoral scanner records the prepared tooth, neighboring teeth and bite. The digital model can be reviewed immediately.

3. Design the Restoration

Dr. Vasquez designs the shape, contacts, margins and bite digitally while considering how the restoration should function and blend with the surrounding teeth.

4. Create and Finish

The restoration is manufactured from the selected dental material, then finished, characterized, polished or heat-treated as required by that material and clinical plan.

5. Verify and Deliver

Fit, contacts, margins and bite are evaluated before the restoration is bonded or cemented. Final instructions and maintenance needs are reviewed.

Restorations That May Be Completed This Way

Selected crowns, inlays, onlays, veneers and implant restorations may be created through a chairside digital workflow. Suitability depends on the tooth, material, case complexity and clinical conditions.

When Same-Day Is Not the Right Choice

Some teeth require root-canal treatment, periodontal healing, surgical treatment, laboratory collaboration or a staged approach. Some materials and complex cases are better completed through a different workflow. Dr. Vasquez will recommend the sequence that best supports the tooth—not force every case into one appointment.

The Role of CEREC

CEREC introduced Dr. Vasquez to chairside CAD/CAM dentistry and became a foundation of the practice. Today, intraoral scanning, digital design, in-office milling and material-specific finishing work together as part of a larger clinical ecosystem. The technology has evolved; the purpose remains serving the patient.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can every crown be completed in one appointment?

No. Many can, but the diagnosis, material, remaining tooth structure and required treatment determine the appropriate workflow.

Is a same-day crown temporary?

No. When a definitive restoration is planned and delivered, it is made from a dental material selected for the clinical situation and intended as the final restoration.

Does faster mean less accurate?

The objective is not to rush. Digital scanning, design and manufacturing allow several controlled steps to occur efficiently in the office. Clinical verification remains essential.
